Everyone has a part to play and you can do better than the people around you, if you believe.

What's important:
1) Helping others with your abilities and not just with money
2) Looking good and of course important, that's basic self respect
3) Feel important and be useful, there's a place for everyone in this world, find yours
4) Love those worth loving, family, friends, idols, dogs etc
5) Stay true to yourself, that's an often overlooked source of happiness

Remnants of my recent thoughts

112th entry: 15june2008 01:50
listening to: bye bye - mariah carey

Sorry for not blogging in recent days, but have been really caught up with work, unnecessary and neccessary socializing after work, training on weekends, spending time with my sweetheart, tennis and mahjong sessions, and also a series of unfortunate events... But one thing to clarify before I officially start on this entry, the previous entry was posted by none other than my sweetheart, haha rather cute of her to think of such a move and she just knew I was too lazy to delete the entry (the photo really didn't do us justice lah... so many better photos don't wanna use hai.. haha)

Anyway, the past couple weeks were rather forgettable, because the internship consumed me to a large extent, and I really could not help complaining to the fellow interns... somehow I'm pretty glad that I'm on a one-week MC till 20 June, so there's no need to report to office and count down to 630pm.

Yup first up French Open men's finals. What a disappointing outing for Federer, I have never seen such dismal performance by the World No. 1, especially with Nadal (whatever happened to the tenacity and superbness from last year's Wimbledon final clash). Although I had wanted Nadal to take the title, neither did I wish for such a one-sided match with the helpless Swede conceding a bagel in the third set... To think that, a few of us volleyball guys rushed out of the sports hall to catch the finals with hope of an exciting, nail-biting clash of the titans, to be so downright disappointed at how quickly the match ended (our food came after Nadal ended it with a 61 63 60 hold of the French Open title) :(

The women's finals was worth the watch at least, although I wished Henin hadn't announced retirement so she could play Ivanovic in the finals haha. But Safina is one great warrior on clay and it was pure enjoyment to see her and Ivanovic swinging from deuce to advantage and back endlessly. Seriously I feel that Henin's sudden retirement really made the whole playing field level, and it seems like any player is also capable of lifting the prestigious title (I love Jankovic's determination, Sharapova's beauty and glamor on court, Ivanovic's strokes and talent, Safina's tenacity and attitude). Anyway, grass season's next and I'm looking forward to much more action between Federer and the other camp which includes everyone else but him, haha.

Visited Ruihong last weekend and was reminded how much talent this young chap, best buddy of mine, had when he was still around. Often quiet in front of others, most people would not realize how much fun it was to be around him, and I really miss having him around - someone who absorbs my nonsense, ignores my shortcomings and loves a friend simply for who he is.

Yup June wasn't great because I was sidelined twice. Once for the second degree in Business - now that I'm finally dropped from the 'prestigious' programme, the feeling was similar to abandonment from a family whom I have slowly learned to embrace, which made me think very hard about such pursuits and how much do I really benefit from them. The other sidelining was my own health, once again. Since 2008 started, I have visited CGH A&E twice. The first time was chicken pox (sidelined for 2 weeks into the new school term); this time was an abcess on my butt.

When the doctor said that I needed to be admitted cos the situation was not too good, it really came as a rude shock. But after a while, I figured out that the ordeal would be over before I knew, I took things really easy. In fact, I spent most of the time sleeping without realizing I had endured hours of no food or water. Simply waited for the operation, and when it was finally time for the operation, I was slightly happy cos I knew that I could eat after that. However, when I was wheeled to the OT, I found tears flowing down my cheek cos I was reminded of the pain my buddy had to go through, or maybe he didn't experience any pain at all. I won't know any of this because he never had the chance to describe it to me... But anyway, the operation was a success and over before I knew. One thing which I liked was the feeling of waking up from anaesthesia, it's just like waking up from a very deep slumber and everything seems rosy and calm. However I really hope I don't have to go through the process again. Made a vow to maintain a clean bill of health for the better, stay as far away from visiting A&Es or any hospitals again...

Yah so that gave me a one-week MC till this Friday, of which I'll spend my time with my dad and mum at home, as well as some quiet time to reflect, clean up my room, have a few good reads, watch a few good movies, take long afternoon naps, help out with some of the housework. I'm just glad this provided me the chance to slow down the pace of my life and appreciate the littler things which I often overlook. Obviously looking on the bright side of things, as always.
