Everyone has a part to play and you can do better than the people around you, if you believe.

What's important:
1) Helping others with your abilities and not just with money
2) Looking good and of course important, that's basic self respect
3) Feel important and be useful, there's a place for everyone in this world, find yours
4) Love those worth loving, family, friends, idols, dogs etc
5) Stay true to yourself, that's an often overlooked source of happiness

End of my internship journey

98th entry: 26july2007 13:15
listening to: ru guo ni ye ting shuo - zhang hui mei

The weather lately has been really nice, perfect for late mornings and afternoon naps. Finally, I'm done with my ten-week internship. That probably sounded like I dread every moment of that ten weeks - however it was nonetheless the most enriching and rewarding period this year so far. I really enjoyed the internship at OCBC and felt glad that I didn't miss the chance to know more people, see more things and also improve myself better.

On the last day of the internship, when the few of us were busy clearing our stuff and doing some last minute handing over, we could not help but feel a sense of belonging to the company. I felt as if I was already a part of the department and I had already gotten so used to working with the bunch (supervisors and peers alike) and waking up early every weekday morning.

It's probably not permissible for me to divulge too much on what I had done, but all I can say is that I have really learned much more than I had expected. We have to learn when to take the best opportunities and learn as much as possible, and often also make the best out of bad situations. Taking this opportunity, I would like to thank everyone who made this journey such a memorable and fulfilling one!

Group photo on the last day of internship - thanks to everyone of you!

When the interns adjourned for dinner at Marina Square after work, I must admit there were mixed feelings inside us. Not so much of me yet, but the girls were really emotional and I could not help but think how much time we spent with one another for the past couple of months. Time really flies and when it comes to parting with one another, it is always much harder to take. Don't worry, we'll still stay in contact and you guys have my most sincere blessings.

Alright moving on to Oikos! Econs Orientation Camp - the 2-day camp was not so much of fun but more of work. That's the main difference in being the freshman and the senior. Also, I didn't really feel very involved in the camp, probably my own fault because I could not neither afford the time to attend the mock camp nor read through the entire ops manual. Basically, I was just roaming around, offering help to whoever needed it. The night walk was quite a dampener I must say - partly because of the rain - but also because certain miscommunication between the main organising committee. Such problems are inevitable when too many people are involved in one single activity/task - which I believe trust in your peers to complete the task would the best way out. Btw, I'm not trying to point fingers at all.

All in all, I feel that the orientation camp is a commendable effort by all those who made it possible, it's true that much effort has been put into making it a success (from my third party point of view).

Yup, still have 3 more weeks to go before school starts, and I still have one more orientation camp to help out in, bidding of courses to settle, and reward myself with indulgent shopping and food excursions in Hong Kong on 11 August. In the meantime, maybe I should spend more time with my loved ones before everything gets too hectic.
