Everyone has a part to play and you can do better than the people around you, if you believe.

What's important:
1) Helping others with your abilities and not just with money
2) Looking good and of course important, that's basic self respect
3) Feel important and be useful, there's a place for everyone in this world, find yours
4) Love those worth loving, family, friends, idols, dogs etc
5) Stay true to yourself, that's an often overlooked source of happiness

Happy like mad!!

49th entry: 18may2006 23:03
listening to: love story - fan yi chen

Huh, I'm still very overwhelmed by the shock that I am awarded with a scholarship. A part of me felt so relieved and the other part of me felt so lucky. Just when I thought I lost the chance at another scholarship 6 weeks ago, cos no reply at all for these weeks. I lost all hopes of securing any in fact so this pleasant surprise really caught me unaware! That was the lucky part. The relieved part was my jubilant parents when they learnt about this good news. I'm very glad that they do not have to worry about my tuition fees and I'm very happy to make them proud.

I don't think I can sleep tonight simply because I'm too ecstatic over the piece of great news. Although I am seriously shagged out after 3 days of arduous, back-breaking work on Siloso Beach, I believe I can afford to keep myself awake to fully absorb the reality happening right now before my eyes. About the temp job in Sentosa, I believe this experience will be very much unforgettable, considering the amount of sweat put in and the sunburns on my back and face. I must concur that this job wasn't easy at all, however I'm grateful for this chance to have a feel how its like to be a 'labourer'. I just couldn't help thinking about the state all of us (the temp event helpers) were in especially when we were transported from one place to another on a lorry. Having to squeeze onto the lorry and receiving glares from hordes of tourists were enough to allow to think of the foreign workers being employed here and the kind of treatment they get from Singaporeans.

Anyway, tomorrow will be the last day of my work and I'm delighted to make new friends and catch up with old ones too. The Swiss beach volleyballers (females included) are super tall and hot, they just made all of us look like dwarfs and hobbits among them! Not kidding at all... quite a sad thing in fact. Asians pale so much in terms of height and build when compared to their Western counterparts, is this something we have to live with? Anyway, it was pure delight to watch them play volleyball on the beach, besides being really skilful and professional, it was like watching '6 hours of Baywatch', quoted direct from the ads found on Sentosa.

Maybe I should try containing my joy and attempt to sleep now, don't want to knock out while working on the beach tomorrow.. Looking forward to tomorrow, last day of work!! Time to rest again!
