Everyone has a part to play and you can do better than the people around you, if you believe.

What's important:
1) Helping others with your abilities and not just with money
2) Looking good and of course important, that's basic self respect
3) Feel important and be useful, there's a place for everyone in this world, find yours
4) Love those worth loving, family, friends, idols, dogs etc
5) Stay true to yourself, that's an often overlooked source of happiness

working life = just do it

45th entry: 1april2006 00:57
listening to: she says - howie day

so much for ORD... now i've plunged right into work. not that work is boring and uninteresting and crazily tough, but it requires some steel lungs to scream loud and self-belief to endure the madness of the new generation kids. i've started relief teaching last week and the experience i've amassed so far has been so enriching i'm really glad that i chose the job. actually i'm also equally interested in any banking/finance related jobs, but right now i guess i'm holding on to teaching for another couple of weeks more...

oh yah so much to share about relief teaching! i love the kids, love them for their spontaneity, creativity, smartness, ignorance and many more. i enjoy being surrounded with so much life, but the noise puts me off sometimes. deafening screams especially, i think the kids will never understand how debilitating their screams can be. another plus: short working hours and rather attractive pay!

more importantly, i've also created a new mantra when it comes to work. 'Just do it' aptly applies to all tasks. so many times i tried planning and deciding the importance of every single task and end up having less time to accomplish them. so for the past few days, i've stopped thinking totally and did whatever i need to do almost all at one go. and it miraculously worked, i managed to finish whatever test analysis, filling up CA1 scores, adding marks, tallying results, jotting down important details along the way and more and more! just do it - multi-task? so be it!

anyway, Poi Ching has left with me many fond memories and most people are telling me that relief teaching is probably one of the best temp jobs around. true enough, but don't get the wrong idea. get started with a teaching career with the correct mindset, to influence the younger generation and pass on the correct values that one should have. i salute the full-time teachers for their dedication, patience, perserverance, love for the students. i still have plenty to learn and the next few weeks will be another learning experience for me (though in another school). same mantra applies, just do it!
